NEW ORLEANS — The Metropolitan Crime Commission has added a new data set to their Orleans crime trends that they routinely track.

The commission unveiled new district-level crime statistics.

The commission will update these statistics weekly.

The data shows crime in New Orleans broken down by violent crimes and where they happened.

Each district is color-coded and the trends show the percent of violent crime represented for that area.

According to the new data set, years to date, the majority of the city’s homicides, shootings and carjackings were reported in the seventh district.

The seventh district encompasses all of New Orleans East.
