The Metropolitan Crime Commission’s Research Program was established in 1996 with the mission of providing independent, objective research to raise the level of accountability and efficiency in the criminal justice systems in the greater New Orleans metropolitan area. Since its inception, the Research Program has broadened its scope to include projects examining the Jefferson, St. Tammany, and Calcasieu parish criminal justice systems.
