Armed carjackers shove an 84-year-old woman to the ground and steal her car Tuesday afternoon according to police.

An NOPD report says it happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard.

Police say someone approached the woman and threatened to shoot her and demanded her keys. The robber then shoved her to the ground and drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

Police did not give a description of the victim’s vehicle or any possible suspects.

A separate carjacking happened later that day in the 7th Ward near the St. Roch neighborhood.

Police say two male suspects approached a 41-year-old woman and demanded her vehicle. This time it happened in the 2100 block of Florida Avenue.
The victim complied and the robbers fled with the victim’s vehicle.

These latest carjackings come as a Metropolitan Crime Commission’s crime data survey shows a sharp spike in violent crimes in New Orleans and the New Orleans Police department is dealing with citywide employee furloughs.
