NEW ORLEANS —

Members of a gang were indicted in connection with violent crimes across New Orleans, according to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams announced the indictment Thursday afternoon.

The indictment lists six counts dating from July 1 to Sept. 12.

Williams said four members of the Glock Boyz gang were charged for their alleged roles in an organized crime spree that included murder and armed robbery.

Williams emphasized that this is not just a group of young men but an organized criminal network operating in the community.

“This dangerous street gang that has made headlines in recent years for a number of coordinated violent attacks,” said Williams.

The District Attorney’s office said Davonn “Twin” Davis, Jomar “Glizz” Walch, Carlos “Los” Taylor and Chante Mark are all affiliated with the Glock Boyz, a gang prosecutors said is notorious.

“We had a very clear picture of just how violent this group was and just how pervasive their activity was over the summer of 2024,” said Assistant District Attorney Andre Gaudin.

The indictment pins three of the suspects at the Shamrock bar in September, alleging they played a part in a shooting that killed a woman and injured four others, but that’s not all.

“Multiple auto burglaries, armed robberies, attempt murders, illegal use of weapons and murder and mayhem,” said Gaudin.

Count one of the indictment said Davis and Taylor committed an armed robbery with the use of a firearm Aug. 20.

Count two reports Mark committed a battery with a dangerous weapon Sept. 1.

According to count three, Mark, Davis and Walch committed the second-degree murder of Raven Francis Sept. 1.

The fourth and fifth counts alleged Davis and Taylor attempted to commit second-degree murder on Sept. 12.

Count six of the indictment said between July 1 and present Davis and Walch knowingly conduct or participate in racketeering activity.

According to crime watchdog Rafael Goyeneche, those types of crimes could diminish if other gang members are captured and put behind bars.

“You are not only holding them accountable, but you’re preventing them from being free to conduct additional crimes,” said Goyeneche.

The indictment also alleged Carlos Taylor was involved in an armed robbery in August. Less than two weeks later, he was arrested for his alleged role in a shooting. After that, Taylor escaped from court and allegedly carjacked a woman and was on the run for days before being captured in Baton Rouge.

“This is unusual for a RICO case to be put together as quickly as this,” said Goyeneche.

As prosecutors work to take down these four suspects and their alleged co-conspirators they have to look across the city. Goyeneche said that gangs like the Glock Boyz are no longer centralized in one location, and now prosecutors rely heavily on social media and other technology.

The charges aim to dismantle the gang’s operations and bring justice to the affected neighborhoods.

“We are coordinated, and we are strategic, and we are looking for the next set of violent individuals that are wreaking havoc,” said Williams.

Officials expect more arrests as the investigation continues.
